Families
Against Mandatory Minimums

Families Against Mandatory Minimums Foundation (FAMM Foundation) is a national nonprofit organization founded in March of 1991 by attorneys, judges, criminal justice experts, and the families of inmates in response to the excessive penalties triggered by mandatory minimum sentencing policies for nonviolent offenses.
FAMM's purpose is to promote rational sentencing policies that give judges discretion to distinguish between defendants and sentence them according to their culpability. Our goal is to end inflexible sentencing policies and insure that the punishment fits the crime.
FAMM works to achieve our goal through FAMM chapters in 25 states and 33,000 members nationwide who are involved in public education, community organizing, working with the media, and legislative activities.
