ICLU fights for what's right

Regarding the June 1 article by Jonathan Roos, "Pendulum swinging for ICLU?": I am very pleased to be a member of the Iowa Civil Liberties Union, and even more pleased with the ruling of the U.S. District Court of the Southern District of Iowa repealing the recent ban on nude dancing.

It's one thing to restrict the time and place of such activities, but quite another to ban them outright.  If a consenting adult wants to watch another consenting adult take clothes off, where is the victim?  Sure, it may be stupid to spend money on such activities, but if we were to outlaw stupidity, who would we find to run our government?

My hat's off to the Iowa Civil Liberties Union for ignoring hysterical Puritan politicians and standing up for what's right.  If we didn't make such a big deal out of nudity, people wouldn't be willing to pay money to see it.  Let's get to work on solving the real problems in our society, such as creating a situation that provides people with better opportunities for employment.
