Senate Votes Narcotic Treaty
WASHINGTON, June 24 (AP)--- The Senate ratified today a treaty transferring narcotic drug control from the League of Nations to the United Nations. The necessary two-thirds approval came ona voice vote. Chairman Arthur H. Vandenberg, Republican of Michigan, said the treaty carried "no new obligations" for the United States except possibly a slight increase in its contribution. He said the international program against narcotics "has been amazing in its effectiveness."
